COST

There are several payment plans for joining our club:

£40 for one semester only.

£75 for a year membership.

£4 for Monday and Wednesday classes, £1 for Sunday practice (dojo fee). Deal: pay £7 on Monday and get the Wednesday immediately after for free.
+ £30 license fee - insurance and affiliation.

Our sessions also take place in the Sports Centre on St Leonard's Road, so at least a £60 Club Access Membership is required for entrance to the Sports Centre.

GI
​
Gi (the white karate suits) are required to grade, and preferred when training. Several gi are offered by the club through Blitz, members of the club being eligible for a discounted price.

GRADING
​
A license is required to grade, this license costing £30 for all members. There is a grading at the end of every semester, costing £30 for each student wishing to grade. The license booklet should be brought to the grading as proof of previous gradings. If you have previously graded in Shotokan style before, you must also bring proof of your grading from your old club.

COMPETITIONS
​
The club participates in two yearly competitions, namely BUCS Nationals and SSS. BUCS is a national competition between UK universities, while SSS is a competition between Scottish universities.
Due to SSS being smaller than BUCS and local, it is an ideal opportunity for members who are wanting to give competitions a go but aren't sure if they could travel the distance for BUCS (commonly located in Sheffield) or join such a massive event.

BUCS is ideal for the competition-oriented of us, or those who would like to take the extra step and join something bigger. A license is required to compete in both competitions, these being purchased through the club (see price under "grading" heading).
